I haven't updated this for a while, but as some people know, there has been a fair amount of family trauma going on.
My mum was taken to hospital by ambulance and was in danger of losing her leg at one point, due to thrombosis. We were also told that she may not live through the night, which sort of makes you re-assess things.
One of the things is family members, well meaning or otherwise. We, the immediate family, were upset enough; visiting was very restricted, so when other family members took it into their heads to keep on visiting, it was hard to be tactful.
Another is friends. I don't know where I'd have been without mine, but we had a problem with Mum's friends. Mainly because we didn't know who they were; we had her address book, but no way of know if she'd want us to tell these people, were they friends who would care, or just people she'd met. A certain 'gentleman friend', we didn't know the nature of the relationship (well you don't ask your mum stuff like that) although she's known him for a few years.
